The In Death Series
This is a series of futuristic science fiction police procedurals featuring NYPSD Lieutenant Eve Dallas and her husband Roarke. The setting are in the slightly-futuristic of 2058 in New York City. Despite the emphasis on solving a crime in each of the books, the overall theme of the series is the development of the relationship between Eve and Roarke.

My Thoughts:
The 1st book "Naked in Death" was recommended by an Uncle manning a bookshop in Bras Basah Complex: Saint Bookshop.. I am not so interested in Suspense at that time but he was telling that this series is very highly recommended by himself and his customers so I decided to gave it a try.
The author of this series is actually Nora Roberts who has been writing contemporary romance novels... But under the pen name: J.D. Robb, she has switch to writing Suspense/Crime novels thus the IN DEATH series.
It all started with a murder where Dallas (she does not like to be called Eve) was the Primary. In the course of her investigation, she meets Roarke at a funeral, the murder for which he is a suspect. The story later developed into how 2 individuals of very different background met each other and fall in love... Of course, with the help of Roarke, they finally solved the murder case...
This series is somewhat like CSI where there are different crime involved and how Dallas solved them.
As the story is set in the mid-21st century, everything is very high tech then..
AutoChef: A countertop device that prepares any food or beverage programmed by the user
Droids: man-made mechanic replicas of humans that fulfill various functions
Flying vehicles: Anything from cars, to buses, to skateboards, can be used for transportation in the air as well as on the ground (reminded me of Back to the Future Part II)
What I love about this series is the characters.
1) Dallas: she is the kick-ass kind of cop who is fiercely dedicated to her job. She stands for the dead and will never gives up untill justice is served.
2) Roarke: he is someone who believes that if something should be done, he will do it, even if it is illegal. Possibly the richest man in the world as he owns nearly everything. Also, he is always so understanding and supportive of Dallas.
And lastly, of course, the suspense/crime story that author has written.. and giving us a glimpse of what our future may be as technology advances...
