SkinCare I - Cleansers

Daily skin care regimens often help to maintain one's youthful glow. As for me, I have used products ranging from high end ( Estee Lauder, Boitherm, Shisedo... ) to the mid range ones (Neutrogena, Aqualabel, DHC, Loreal..)

Let's start off with my Cleansers:

The simple rule is that you need to find a good cleanser that your skin responds well to, and stick to it.. But I cannot apply this to myself. Maybe because I am born under the sign of virgo and likes to try new stuff...

Left to Right: DHC Cleansing Oil, Etude House Light Cleansing Oil and Aqualabel Moist  Wash

DHC Cleansing Oil
I got to know of this product when I saw a lady purchasing half a basket full of it in Japan in Apr 2008. This product is not available in Singapore at that time but now you can find it in most Watsons store.

The texture of DHC Deep Cleansing Oil is thicker then the Shu Uemura which I had used before. Therefore making it harder to spread and apply on my face. However, it dissolves and cleans up all types of makeup including the waterproof mascara quite easily and quickly. After which, I emulsify it with a little bit of water. This cleanser is also very easily rinsed off with water.
The olive oil based ingredients deliver a gentle feeling, and it doesn't turn my face greasy, itchy or dry after wash. It feels totally clean and supple!
BEST makeup remover I have ever used!

Steps:

  • Pump 2-3 of cleansing oil on your dry hands
  • Massage onto DRY skin using circular movements for 1-2 minutes.
  • Wet your hands and massage again for a minute. The cleansing oil when mixed with water will turn milky. Many people then to miss this step and proceed to rinse off. I personally felt that with this additional step, the product cleans up much better.
  • Rinse off
I have applied the above steps to all Cleansing oil.

Etude House Cleansing Dream Light Cleansing Oil
Bought this during a sale when I was in Malaysia for a short trip.
The one I got is in the Light variant for normal to oily skin but they have the other variant which is Moist for dry skin.
It has a very mild floral scent and the texture is really light like water therefore making it very easy to apply on the face. After rubbing this cleanser on the face for a few seconds, noticed that my makeup and waterproof mascara does disappear. However, I find that it does not rinse off very well. Washing it off took much longer when comparing to DHC Cleansing oil. Also, I do not like after wash feeling. My face does not feel very clean even though I know all the makeup has been removed

Aqualabel Moist Wash
This was recommended by my sister and I got it from Taipei Watsons. Singapore Watsons recently introduced this series in Jun/Jul.
I use this as my daily facial wash and also as the double cleanser after my makeup remover. I like this very much as it form lots of fluffy foam.
The Red series are recommended for dry skin type because it provides and support to maintain Moisture to your skin.
The after wash does not give you stiff or slimy, uncleansed feeling but rather a fresh feeling which I LIKE!

Murad Clarifying Cleanser
This cleansing gel helps to prevent breakouts on acne-prone skin with Triclosan that eliminates 99.9% of irritating surface bacteria.
I only use this when my skin is very sensitive and starting to have breakouts. This cleanser can be a little drying but my skin feels very clean and refresh after wash.
This product is good for acne prone skin but one has to use with caution as I overheard a lady complaining to the Murad SA that it worsen her skin..
As for me, I am already into my 2nd tube...

For the facial wash, the steps are the same

  • Use around 1 cm or 20-50 cents size of facial wash on your wet hands
  • Massage onto skin using circular motions for 1-2 minutes.
  • Rinse off

Finally note: Everyone's skin type is different, you just have to give many trials to find the RIGHT CLEANSER for your skin!
