Tampopo Entrance |
On the table there is only 1 set of menu which I find it very inconvenience as there were 2 of us and we have to share.

Left side of the menu shows the different parts of the pig. Right side is our order. |
There are 2 different menus to choose: Ramen or Rice. Both of us decided to try the Kurobuta Pork tonkatsu rice set and have ordered the "Top Grade BP Tonkatsu Set" since they are having 40% off. We asked the waiter why the tonkatsu is top grade and we got the answer that it is due to their FATS in the pork.... Though both of us does not really like fatty stuff as it is very greasy, we decided to keep an open mind and give it a try.
While we are waiting for our food to come, Cindy saw this on their electronic register...
It reads:
Team Work
- Respect & Praising
- Positive Thinking & Challenge

Konjac Gel |
Next is the Tonjiru soup which is made by stewing thinly sliced pieces of pork, alongside with some vegetables.. Inside this soup, there is also the konjac Gel (蒟蒻) which I saw it in the Japan Hour before and have always wanted to try it out. This taste something like hard jelly...
The soup itself is slightly different from other restaurants. It does not have a very strong taste of miso but instead it is very light though I find it a bit greasy. (see the top layer of oil on top of the soup)
The tonkatsu is very big in size and very crispy. However, I find mine is slightly overdone, the meat is a bit hard and not to mentioned the FATS.. See the small chunk of fats next to the yellow wasabi.. Another thing I would like to comment is the rice, it is not very fragrant, I have taster better in a tonkatsu rice shop in ION.
Frankly, we did not enjoy the food very much however we do plan to visit this place again to try the Ramen next.
Afterwhich, we proceeded to the cashier to make our payment and saw this... Cute little crabs..
